Metal baskets are so much better than plastic. November 8, 2007 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Great steamer, plus the frypan to boot. Large capacity (can cook for two using only one tier) which does take up more space than some, but being stainless steel it looks good when not in use. No timer, but buy a separate one if you've not got a timer because this steamer is so much better than one with plastic baskets. There are no clips to break off. Food doesn't get stuck in the holes as the metal is so much thinner than plastic bases. There are no little corners or grooves to collect food in. The baskets will go in a dishwasher and come out clean. I'd never buy a plastic one again.
Simply the best! August 15, 2007 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I was looking for a good steamer, and most of those I was considering had plastic bowls. I took a look at the reviews on Amazon, especially those for the Prestige Cook & Steam, and am so glad I did! The other brands pale into insignificance beside this one. It's SO sturdy and versatile, and the results are wonderful time after time AND it only costs about a tenner more than some of the others. No worries about the bowls cracking on this one (unlike some of the others) AND it is going to last me for quite a few years. This was designed to last.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who sent in a review on this item. It really helped me to make the right choice. All I can suggest is that you get one and see for yourself.

Do not bother with the cheaper plastic types, spend the money and buy this one, last you a lifetime and looks great in the kitchen, cannot fault,

I have just purchased this steamer and it is fantastic!! Having had a prestige pressure cooker till four years ago and struggled to get parts. Changed to a cheaper version steamer that did not stand the test of time!I have purchased a lot of this cooking range over the last 15 years and it is still going strong. The huge range of uses is endless and I'm more than happy with it.Although it could do with a timer on it, would recommend it to anyone who cooks for a family as it is a desent size.Well done to prestige.
More than a steamer. April 20, 2006 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
As others have said, this is great for steaming vegetables but more than that I cook curries, braise steak and 'griddle' chicken fillets in mine and much more will be done given time. (I have only had it a couple of weeks) Although it is a bit big, being multi purpose makes it worth the space it takes up on the counter top. A timer would be good but never mind. I would find more recipes useful, even if it was just to give me an idea of what it can do and show some timings.
