1 out of 5 stars Only for large families   November 6, 2007

This is the second time I've had to write this review - the first one wasn't published.

Only buy this if you're a large family. What it doesn't tell you anywhere - unless you download the instruction book from the Kenwood site which I didn't - is that there is a MINIMUM quantity you can cook.

This is four cups of rice which the instructions suggest will serve FOUR people. However when I tried it out it cooked enough rice for SIX large portions or EIGHT normal sized portions. But I'm single and live alone. I just wanted something I could cook a single portion in without having to constantly monitor a saucepan on the hob. It's no use to me at all!

I've put it back in the box and tried to sell it at the office - no one was interested. I now have lots of cooked rice stored in the freezer...

I've voted one star since there isn't an option to vote no stars...

I was hesitant about how good this product would be having already returned a Tefal rice cooker because it was too complicated to figure out!

This Morphy Richards one is great, it's simple to use and it makes perfect rice.

Another important feature is that it doesn't make any mess at all.

This Morphy Richards rice cooker is by far the best I've used. My tip here is to always ensure that there is a one inch layer of water covering the rice before turning on the cooker. The rice cooks perfectly and does not stick to the bottom. The cooker itself is very easy to clean and maintain. I also quite like the stainless steel finish. At 20 this is another fantastic deal on Amazon. You simply can't go wrong with this purchase.

After using my friend's rice cooker a few times although not the same brand, I was inspired to purchased my own.
I have had it for two months now and I have no regrets buying this product. It has a chrome base but inside has a non stick bowl which you only need to lift out to wash it and glass lid.
As I have been cooking rice for quite a few years, I tend not measure it out. With experience you can judge the amount of rice yourself, - put the rice in the bowl, add water to cover by 1 inch or more depending on type of rice, add spices and vegetables as you wish and just leave it to cook by itself. Once in a while you just fluff it up with the provided spoon. Also it keeps the rice warm. This is my way of cooking rice though.
Frankly, I used it twice a week and hey! it is easy to clean and rice does not stick to the bottom.
Little tip, use a nob of butter or a tablespoon of olive oil.
