4 out of 5 stars Makes cooking more enjoyable.   April 24, 2003

A good book for beginners with excellent recipes and well priced. Current research on cooking outdates this book, but, lends support to the method. Its recipes, rather disappointingly, are not solely confined to slow cooking! My wife is well pleased with it and intends keeping it!

5 out of 5 stars An excellent book on slow cooking   November 4, 2001

I had been thinking about buying a slow cooker for some time, and having come across this book by accident, I found it useful firstly in choosing a cooker suitable for my needs.
The section on care of the cooker, preparation, and hints and tips are a worthwhile read before moving on to the recipies. The recipies are clear, varied, easy to follow and (so far!) have produced results that I have found excellent.
I would heartily recommend this book, especially to those, like me, who are new to slow cooking. The price makes it an indispensible addition to a new slow cooker. The depth of the recipies ensures that it waill also appeal to the more experienced.

4 out of 5 stars An informative, easy to understand, must have book   April 26, 2001

Having not used a slow cooker for many years and considering buying a newer, up-to-date version, I was searching for a book that would give me a better idea of what I could actually do with a slow cooker nowadays. I found this book to be very informative on the principles of slow cooking. It was also very easy to understand. The recipes were English based and therefore the ingredients etc were accessible to me and I found this to be a good stepping stone which would give me the confidence to be more adventurous in the future. A must have book for reference, ideas, and encouragement at a very affordable price.
