Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
A sophisticated solution with large capacity on a very small space. The unique, space saving waste bin 40L is a must for every kitchen. The "Soft-touch" closing makes opening a joy. And with the removable plastic inner bucket, it's even easy to clean. cookinstyle also supply a full range of Brabantia bin liners - bags.

5 out of 5 stars Besy Buy Bin   November 26, 2008
An excellent product. I thought this was quite expensive but the brand and shape appealed to me. As I expected it is good quality and a great shape which fits (almost) flat against the wall. It's also fairly mark-proof and easy to clean. I haven't had any of the problems experienced by the the first reviewer. It's so easy to open, I use by elbow when my hands are full! I bought mine 7 months ago and I'm still happy I made the right decision.

1 out of 5 stars Bad Design and Ill Conceived   April 21, 2008

I bought one of these last Christmas, just a few months ago. The lid is fastened by a molded pin that projects from a plastic collar that fits into the lid assembly. When I first saw this, I though "no way will that last five minutes" - and I was right. My bin lid no longer shuts.

Worse still, the plastic insert that fits into the lid doesn't have flush edges. The edges are very heavily recessed so that they get bunged up will all kinds of waste. For something that's designed (Ha!) to carry waste, that a bit odd. It's very unhygenic and is a pain to clean because it's too small to get a cloth in there. You have to gouge it out with a kitchen knife.

The molded latch pin was a bad idea, and was just done for cheapness. They could easily have used a screw-in, replaceable pin instead. The lack of practical design quite frankly amazes me in a bin that costs 89.99 which is what I paid for mine.

It's clear to me that Brabantia doesn't make bins that are any better than anyone else's. They just charge a lot more for them.

Do yourself a favour and go and buy a cheap plastic one. When that breaks after a few months, you won't feel ripped off, will you!

I bought this item specifically because it was manufactured by Brabantia (had previously bought a potato peeler and a washline made by them and was very happy with both!). The price of their products is excessive, but the quality is definitely there and I guess thats what you pay for in the long run. The bin is a pleasing shape (which is what caught my eye initially) and the touch top is great when your fingers are messy - a quick tap with the back of your hand and the lid opens. Holds a large amount which is also a boon. So if you can get past the price (and next year you will still be enjoying using the bin when you have fogotten the cost!) you will not be sorry you bought it.

5 out of 5 stars The king of bins!   October 23, 2007

Never thought I'd be reviewing a 'bin' ....how tame things have become ! Anyhoo - had been making do with a round cheaper bin and hadnt realised how awful it was until this one arrived! It is only 40 litres, but is like a Tardis ! Takes a lot of rubbish and is really easy to empty - no struggling with trying to coax the bin bag out.Looks swish, is easy to keep clean and the touch top is really handy.
The space saving shape is good, but has a small handle at the back which stops it from laying flush against the units, a small irk, but overall I love my new bin! Note to self .....get out more....
