Not alone in the wilderness August 21, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After less than a year, this corkscrew has now fallen apart. Hooray, we are now rid of a clunky, inefficient and expensive much disliked bottle opener. Avoid.
Voice in The Wilderness May 28, 2007 Given the other glowing reviews here, I feel very much the odd man out. But I hated this corkscrew. It's big and clunky; the foilcutter flies off when you pick it up; it's cumbersome to use and, worst of all, very poor at removing corks! No matter how I tried, the neck of the device always fell off when ratcheting back the handles. Awkward and ungainly. But maybe that's just me....!
The greatest corkscrew I've ever used January 31, 2007 It's big, it's solid, it opens wine bottles smoothly and flawlessly, once you've mastered just how it works. The business.
Your male friends will most likely want to disassemble it to see how it works, so you would be wise to practice reassembling it yourself before wheeling it out for public consumption. But it's a very well-engineered piece of kit.
Two slight issues: If you don't apply quite enough pressure when you're pushing the silicone collar down onto the neck of the bottle, sometimes it doesn't pull the cork all the way out. You get a feel for this after opening a few bottles, however.
Oh, and the foil-cutter has a spring-loaded catch, that gives it an annoying tendency to ping off and fly away.
Excellent piece of equipment March 29, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great corkscrew, couldnt be easier to use, quick and hardly any physical effort. It is however pretty enormous so make sure you have got room to store it!
The most fantastic wine bottle opener ever March 24, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had one of these wine bottle openers for 5 years and in that time I reckon it has opened over 2000 bottles with no problems of broken corks or corks stuck in bottles. It is simple and efficient and I would reccomend it to everyone.
