1 out of 5 stars duck for cover   January 17, 2006

I bought this popcorn maker for part of my wifes christmas present, as she loves to eat popcorn when watching a dvd, which usually means me having to go to the shop around the corner in the freezing cold to buy her some.

I saw this popcorn maker cheap and chearful AND in pink what more could a man ask for. I bought it, wrapped it and she opened it. She liked the popcorn maker until she made the popcorn. It spits popcorn everywhere and I mean everywhere, all over the table, floor in your face, hair.

The instructions tell you to use a large bowl so that the popcorn can drop into it. Well I don't have a 6ft wide bowl in my house because thats what you would need to catch these angry popcorns.

I would just like to say to anyone considering to buy this product, DON'T it's very dangerous and poorly made. Keep away from children. This popcorn maker should not be sold I don't know how this product passed health and safety standards.

I have a new saying which from now on I will stick to
WHAT YOU PAY FOR IS WHAT YOU GET
please take note

1 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL & DANGEROUS   January 5, 2006

Received this Popcorn maker for Christmas 2005! Was really excited at first until I saw how it worked and what happened after my 3rd attempt. I really don't know how such a poor quality product can make it through the quality control tests...

The most annoying thing is you can only pop corn every 15 minutes, as you have to let it 'cool down' before you can make another batch (so is useless for parties, etc, pointless...).

Secondly, when you do make popcorn, it goes EVERYWHERE! This is mainly because the dispensing part of the machine is so poorly designed that it is too short and too 'open', thus allowing the popcorn to go all over the place - literally AND it is HOT (the unpopped kernals, of which there are very many!), so if it hits your arm, or worse, your eye, or a child, your in trouble.

However, what got me to return it to the store straight away was when it started spitting out little sparks after only the 3rd turn! I did allow it to cool down but this was the last straw. It also seemed to spit out the popcorn like a maniac by the 3rd time. I concluded that this product was highly unsafe and certainly not good for children, who this particular popcorn maker is aimed at. 0 stars.

3 out of 5 stars Quick popper   January 2, 2006

This pops corn very quickly, so it does exactly what it promises. However, the corn delivery opening is very wide, which can lead to both popped and unpopped kernels being ejected at high speed in use. They are hot, as you'd expect, so it is wise to keep chldren well away from the popper when it's in use. Use a big bowl as well, as once the corn starts flying, it goes in every direction.

1 out of 5 stars An excellent tool for chucking popcorn kernals on the floor   December 27, 2005

If you're going to buy a popcorn maker, you probably are thinking something like ... "isn't one popcorn maker as good as another in the grand scheme of things?, shouldn't i just save a few quid? or get the pink one cause i like pink?" as it turns out, the answer is a resounding no!

This popcorn maker has some serious flaws which leaves me wondering if the 'engineer' who designed it even turned it on before selling it

some sort of combination of 'too shallow popping chamber' and no 'popcorn delivery spout' leaves about 50% of the kernals unpopped and on the kitchen counter or floor. In fact most of the popped kernals wound up on the floors and countertops too.

the popcorn made in any air-popper you buy is going to taste exactly the same ... make sure you get one that actually pops the kernals and gets it into the bowl ... otherwise it's just a messy waste of time and not in fact a handy, time saving, delicious & inexpensive snack making tool.

1 out of 5 stars A Safety Hazard   December 26, 2005

A dangerous product that should not be considered. Red hot popcorn flies out of the machine, the popcorn doesnt taste as good as it does from a pan and a large proportion of the popcorn doesnt pop, but flies out at you unpopped and red hot. Even if it was'nt dangerous to use, it can only produce small quantities of popcorn cooked or uncooked before you are instructed to turn it off for 15 minutes (because it generates so much heat).

This would be genuinely dangerous for anyone of any age who is unprepared. Buy as a present for a relative you dislike.
