Del'Longhi WR30 Electric Waffle Maker December 26, 2008 My daughter has been wanting to make waffles at home for ages, so Christmas Day came and there was her eagerly awaited waffle maker!!! Boxing Day - so we are now trying to SEARCH on the internet for a good recipe!! WHY ON EARTH ARE THERE NO RECIPES PROVIDED IN THE BOX WITH THE MACHINE? Even a basic one would have been nice?!?
Great waffles October 28, 2008 I have just bought this and am very pleased with it. The only criticism is that it does not have a recipe or instruction book with it. However, I got a recipe from the web and went ahead. On my first try I didn't oil the plates enough and put too much mixture in the machine, but after this I got it right and have enjoyed great fluffy waffles. Would recommend it.
It looks like a waffle, it smells like a waffle (sort of) but it doesn't taste like a waffle. August 3, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
As a keen cook, I acquired this waffle iron envisisioning great waffles to accompany a good coffee. However I was disappointed to find that this waffle iron doesn't produce waffles comparable to something you would find served with icecream. I know you may be thinking that I needed to find the right recipe, but trust me I tweaked recipes constantly to get the waffle right. The main problem with this waffle iron is that when you apply your waffle dough and start cooking the waffle, this machine inexplicably starts ommitting steam. It steam cooks your waffle, leaving it flacid and tasteless, as the dough soaks up the condensation. The heat dial at the front fills with steam ! It would be like cooking a crepe in hot water instead of frying in some butter. It would be like boiling doughnuts. In the end my only solution to this problem was to make the waffles and then putting them in caramel to give them some crispness. Ultimately I sold it on. I am now seeking a professional waffle iron, does anyone have any suggestions? I am reluctant to purchase one of those irons you find at a Ben and Jerry's outlet but I'm seeking the same results.
Perfect Waffles Every Time July 6, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I always kept meaning to buy a waffle iron and I finally got around to it. After looking at various models and comparing prices I opted for the DeLonghi WR30.
Upon first inspection this is a very stylish and slimline machine. Having used many similar kinds of appliances before, I was able to use it without any bother, considering there was not an instruction booklet provided, which seems unhelpful for people when first using this product. Armed with a good waffle recipe they turned out perfectly, nice and crisp, cooked in 4 1/2 minutes without any mess. The only advice I would give to new users is:
Do not over fill the waffle compartment; 1 tablespoon of Batter in each section of the waffle plate is ample. Lightly oil top and bottom of plates before heating and after each waffle is cooked. Cook 4 1/2 to 5 minutes for a nice crispy waffle. Works great with sweet and savoury kinds. Have a good waffle recipe to start you off. The waffle and pancake book suggested when you buy this product is excellent. Overall opinion is that this is an excellent machine that I would recommend without having to spend a hefty price and great waffles it makes too, yum yum!!
Faultless Waffles!! April 19, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A great machine that only gets four stars for coming without the remotest hint of a recipe and it took forever to find a really good one - there are plenty of mushy waffle recipes out there, but finding a good crispy one took some time!! If you want to make really easy waffles - this is the one and they can be frozen once cold and toasted to revive them - a great instant snack/breakfast.
