1 out of 5 stars avoid seller and product both!   December 30, 2008

avoid this product at and retailer at all costs!

first off, i ordered this quite close to christmas but was promised delivery before my order that it would arrive before christmas... it didn't so someone was left presentless on christmas. i explained what happened and what it was and they were happy enough to wait.

secondly when it arrived i tried to set it up, this in an impossibility as it does not work. i thought for the first hour of trying to set it up that i had done something wrong as when i tried to connect to the network it just could not pick it up, from any usb port. then i went to directly beside the hub and it still didnt pick the hub. after a few hours of trying to get the laptop onto the, or even see the network i started getting a signal only to restart the computer to make sure it would find it time after time on starting up, this is when i realised that this is just a peice of crap. one minute it says there is a signal of 65% the next it cant even find anything, from any of the usb ports, all the while my iphone and laptop are both connected to the network so there is nothing wrong with the network or hub.

take my advice please as after the few extra days wait i had and the explaining i had to do and the promises to the person that they would be online soon after christmas i now have to order a new device that will do the job this was meant to do and it will be the new year before they can even start to set up a new connection.

terrible experience all over!

1 out of 5 stars Died after a day   December 18, 2008
I installed this adapter using the CD provided and it worked a treat, for 1 day. When I switched on the computer on the second day it continuously connected and disconnected, not even long enough to pick up an IP address from the router. I have tried downloading the latest drivers from the Sweex site but no change. Pay a bit more and get something that works.

3 out of 5 stars Reliable but... lag spikes   November 30, 2008
I bought this adapter around 1 year ago. It has lasted and still works fine. Sometimes, about twice a month it will randomly disconnect but that doesnt bother me. It doesnt overheat like my old netgear WG111T did and was basically, plug in and play. The only problem I have with it, and it is a pretty big one ( for gaming) is that it sufferes lag spikes. U can be playing an online game fine for 2 minutes, when u suddenly freeze and cant move for about 4-6 seconds, then it unfreezes, you catch up to the point you should be been at and carry on playing. It also happens with vioce chat. You can talk for abour 30 seconds, when suddenly, eveything goes silent for 2 seconds or so and then you can talk.

While these problems may not bother average computer users, for people that play online games and chat over the internet it can be pretty annoying. So annoying that I am buying a wireless PCI card to replace it.

5 out of 5 stars Simplicity Itself   November 26, 2008
Plug in, insert the supplied disc, install the software and you're done! The only slightly harder bit is configuring your internet connection afterwards, but this is not the fault of the adapter. Once I had sorted my connection out it connects every time, has a consistently excellent signal and normally five bar signal strength. I actually think it's faster than my previous modem connection! Don't buy a cheaper one from ebay, buy this and you'll know you've bought a quality, reliable item, delivered within four days! Excellent.

1 out of 5 stars Not great   November 17, 2008
Just couldn't get this to work. According to the instructions it should have done but it didn't. Spent ages fiddling about but it wouldn't pick up any signal let alone mine. It went back.
