5 out of 5 stars For perfect effortless rice every time...   March 20, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

This is a great product - as long as you spend a few minutes before hand rinsing the rice until no starch is left and the water runs clear through the rice under the tap. This makes ALL the difference as then you get no starch bubbling up and out of the lid while it cooks. You simply measure rice, rinse thoroughly, put on for 20 mins or so whilst you prepare rest of meal and its done with no effort perfectly every time. Reliable kitchen appliance if you like to eat rice often!

1 out of 5 stars Messy Cooker   March 11, 2008

We bought this rice cooker after breaking the lid of our Anthony Worrell Thomson rice cooker. We use it to cook long grain brown rice and found it incredibly messy, spitting out from the vent and around the lid, even after rinsing the rice thoroughly beforehand. My advice is not to buy this cooker unless you want to be cleaning up for half an hour afterwards!

1 out of 5 stars Lid broke within 8 months   December 25, 2007

I bought this for a friend last Christmas (2006). The handle on the lid broke within 8 months. Very dissapointed with the quality. Other than that it cooks well. But, without the lid you cant do much with it.

5 out of 5 stars The best reason to buy is.......   November 7, 2007

The best reason to buy is that you get a 2 year guarantee. The lid handle on mine cracked, and the new one came the next day - no charge. Morphy Richards customer service is fantastic. I was not expecting it to break, but when it did, there was no problem at all. For peace of mind and a damn good product as well, I would recommned this. In fact, I would recommend any Morphy Richards product, if their support of this one is anything to go by. I have a bread maker as well, and an iron - but they haven't needed the 2 year guarantee, but its nice to know that its there

1 out of 5 stars Only for large families   November 6, 2007

This is the second time I've had to write this review - the first one wasn't published.

Only buy this if you're a large family. What it doesn't tell you anywhere - unless you download the instruction book from the Kenwood site which I didn't - is that there is a MINIMUM quantity you can cook.

This is four cups of rice which the instructions suggest will serve FOUR people. However when I tried it out it cooked enough rice for SIX large portions or EIGHT normal sized portions. But I'm single and live alone. I just wanted something I could cook a single portion in without having to constantly monitor a saucepan on the hob. It's no use to me at all!

I've put it back in the box and tried to sell it at the office - no one was interested. I now have lots of cooked rice stored in the freezer...

I've voted one star since there isn't an option to vote no stars...
