Not all 'crocked' up to be! August 19, 2008 As a very keen cook, I was very excited to try my hand at slow cooking, having read some interesting modern recipes for the slow cooker. I decided to spend a little extra for this model as I liked the idea of having a timer and a keep warm feature. However, I failed to realise that this unit only has one heat setting and the timer is very limiting. I am unable to find whether this setting is high or low, therefore will need to gamble with overcooking fish dish recipes requiring low setting. Also, the timer can only be set for a minimum of 4 hours. Again, if a recipe requires less time cooking, I cannot use the keep warm facility as this can not be manually switched on prior to 4hrs. In its favour, it is a large slow cooker and I have made some fabulous stews and curries, however for anything more delicate - think about the cheaper option with the different heat settings!
48730 - slow cooker from Morphy richards July 22, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got this slow cooker last October. It has proved to be an excellent investment. Big enough to take a leg of lamb or a whole chicken or feed 10 if required, but feeds a family of 4 comfortably on a daily basis. It is fairly big, (which may be a drawback if you need to leave it out all the time), and cant really be washed in the dishwasher or put in the oven - but this hasn't been a problem in practice. The timer is simple to set with a couple of button pushes and after the specified finish time it goes into 'keep warm' mode, I Use it 3-4 times a week , The kids eat everything that comes out of it with no leftovers. the pot itself developed a crack this week - I phoned Morphy Richards who say they will replace the cooker free of charge - can't say better than that, problems happen , its how they are dealt with that counts

Buying this for a friend as i now own one due to a staff member going on about hers and whats she's having when she gets in without cooking! My first dish was a soup and my goodness what a life and time saver,I was able to have a good nights sleep without having to wake n check every so often, got up saturday morning my soup was cooked well, you couldn't get the meat any softer than what it was, soooooooooooooooooo soft just like cotton wool! I had all saturday to myself which i spent with my feet up and doing my word search with a glass of bacardi breezer--pure luxury and a fantastic purchase-every woman should own one of these instead of a man!!!!
The right choice.... September 27, 2007 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
I was looking for a supersize slow cooker so we could cook large joints (like the huge leg of lamb in our freezer.)
Our first try outs of this slow cooker all left us concluding that we'd made the right choice here; every time, the meat came out so tender and delicious. Almost perfect.... So, on this occasion, it's 5 stars all the way for Morphy Richards.

I brought this thinking, my casserole dish is too small, i really need something bigger! This is huge!!! It could feed 10 people when full! I read other reviews where people said that it made the meat really tender, and i thought "yeah yeah, tender meat, whatever" but oh my god! I used this for the first time on Saturday, i set it to cook while we were out for the day. When we got back, at 5pm there was a lovely meal waiting for us and the chicken breasts literally fell apart they were so tender! Everything was cooked to perfection and was so delicious. I would recommend this slow cooker to anyone (except those who are living by themselves - they could do with a smaller version!). This is idea if you can't afford the more expensive cuts of meat (like me) because it cooks even the cheapest meat to tender perfection.
